Violit Dagher Back to Cairo, Monday Sees Last MB Military Session

Violit Dagher, chairperson of the Arab Commission for Human Rights, has arrived in Cairo to follow up the human rights file, toped by the military trials facing 40 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leaders, and the violations committed against journalists for practicing the freedom of expression, the latest of which were jail sentences issued against four editors-in-chief of independent dailies.

Violit Dagher, chairperson of the Arab Commission for Human Rights, has arrived in Cairo to follow up the human rights file, toped by the military trials facing 40 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leaders, and the violations committed against journalists for practicing the freedom of expression, the latest of which were jail sentences issued against four editors-in-chief of independent dailies.
 
Dagher comes also to follow up the violations committed against Egyptian judges including denying them an independence of the judiciary.Top issues include also imposing a travel ban on judge Hisham Al Bastawisy who was supposed to take part in the Brussels-based "Conscience Court" upon an invitation from human rights agencies including the Arab Commission for Human Rights to hold a mock trial for Israel for the crimes which it committed against Lebanon. Dagher saw that imposing a travel ban on Al Bastawesi is a violation to and an intervention in the freedom and rights of judges.
 
Violit Dagher told Ikhwanweb that she asked a number of state officials in Egyptian government to arrange meetings with the Egyptian First Lady Susan Mubarak, Justice Minister Mamdouh Marei, Interior Minister Major General Habib Al-Adli and Moshira Khattab, the manager of the National Council for Motherhood and Childhood to discuss these issues.In a related context, next Monday will witness the last session of the military tribunal trying Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leaders. Te defense team will wrap up its pleading and the session will be expected to be adjourned for less than a month to issue the ruling.
