Recent study conducted by the Center of Information and Supporting Decision- Making at the cabinet council found that 92% of those with ration cards utilize rice and 99% utilize oil.

The study denoted that 91% of citizens buy additional amounts of unsubsidized sugar and maze due to the insufficiency of that provided by the government upon the ration cards. 44% of Egyptians buy more than 12 kg of rice monthly, 26% buy 6 kg, and 44% buy 6.3 kg of the unsubsidized vegetable oil.

The study conveyed that 99% of the people with ration cards need additional half kilogram of sugar per capita, provided that the price shouldn"t be more than 2.5 L.E. 90% of the people demanded one kilogram of rice per capita monthly with no more than 2 L.E. for the kilo.
