Interior Ministry Orders Detention Of Facebook Activist After He Was Released
Interior Ministry has ordered the detention of blogger Mohamed Refaat on Sunday after a week he spent in custody in the State Security headquarters in Lazoghly square. Refaat was acquitted by the prosecution last week.

Interior Ministry has ordered the detention of blogger Mohamed Refaat on Sunday after a week he spent in custody in the State Security headquarters in Lazoghly square. Refaat was acquitted by the prosecution last week. Refaat was held last July 21 when a state security officer stormed his house to arrest him, but did not find him. The officer seized Refaat’s personal belongings and papers. Fearing further crackdown, Refaat went by himself to Lazoghly after the incident and was kept in custody for three days until he appeared before the prosecution which ordered his release. The charges against Refaat are belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood and calling for a strike in the anniversary of the July 23 revolution through the social networking website Facebook. Bloggers considered the detention another episode of the Interior Ministry’s violation of the freedom of expression. |
