The Upper Egypt Luxor prosecution ordered on Wednesday September 24 the imprisonment of a lieutenant officer pending investigations on charges of assaulting judiciary member.

Two judges from Aswan Court of First Instance were assaulted and insulted by three police officers at Luxor International Airport while heading to Cairo.

A policeman stopped the judges to verify their air tickets; however he refused one of them claiming to be an ordinary ticket. Therefore, heated argument soared among them when the officer punched one of the judges. Judges insisted on complaining to the prosecutor general for investigations.

This is a blatant violation against the judicial authority, said the judges, since most of such security practices were to face simple citizens only, but systematic oppression and torture within the Ministry of Interior led to such heinous practices against judges themselves.
