Postponing Case Of Ahmed Ezz Against Editor Of "Sawt Al Omaa" Newspaper, To November 27

Al Agouza Criminal Court decided in its meeting on Thursday, November 6, to postpone the lawsuit of insult and defamation filed by Eng. Ahmed Ezz, secretary of organizational affairs in the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Chairman of the Committee on Plan and Budget in People’s Assembly, against Abdul Halim Qandil, editor of "Sawt Al Omaa" newspaper, and Essam Ismail Fahmi, chief of the newspaper’s board of directors, to November 27, 2008.

Al Agouza Criminal Court decided in its meeting on Thursday, November 6, to postpone the lawsuit of insult and defamation filed by Eng. Ahmed Ezz, secretary of organizational affairs in the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Chairman of the Committee on Plan and Budget in People"s Assembly, against Abdul Halim Qandil, editor of "Sawt Al Omaa" newspaper, and Essam Ismail Fahmi, chief of the newspaper"s board of directors, to November 27, 2008.

 
Qandil"s defense did not attend the meeting, explaining that the declaration of the lawsuit against Qandil was not delivered to him on the right way, as it was declared in the headquarters of the newspaper which is not the legal place where it should be declared.

 
Another court decided in the first meeting of the case on October 12, the last, to refer the case to another trial, according to the digital jurisdiction of the case of today"s meeting on November 6.

 
The case dates back to June 30 when the newspaper " Sawt Al Omaa " published an article entitled "Egypt"s First Thief" in which it dealt with the character of Ahmed Ezz, describing him as being a symbol of corruption, and that he uses his power for his personal interests.

Ezz demanded in his lawsuit, a temporary civil compensation of 10 thousand pounds.
