Dr. Mohamed Habib, MB Deputy Chairman, condemned the arbitrary arrests among members of the MB across Egypt, which he described as an attack on their civil liberties and constitutional rights. He asserted that these latest arrests against leaders of civil and peaceful movement are designed to undermine the MB ability to participate in political activities especially after its impressive victory in the 2005 parliamentary elections.

Meanwhile, Khaled Hamza, Ikhwanweb editor, confirmed the security raids and the arrest of Prof. Abu Bakr el Sedeek, and reaffirmed that these arrests will not undermine the MB"s path to democracy and reform. He added that MB and the liberal pro-democracy opposition will not be intimidated by these arbitrary arrests and will stay the course of peaceful reform.
