In an illegitimate action, the Egyptian authorities questioned the validity of the court’s decree revoking the release parole of thirteen of the Muslim Brotherhood’s high ranking leaders who had been sentenced in the recent military tribunal.
 
The Government submitted its appeal before the court in Abdeen, Cairo.  Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Maksoud, head of the defense team of the MB, described it as an illegal proceeding, claiming that the law cannot and should not be manipulated. However, this did not end the parole release decision.
 
Abdel-Maksoud stated that the appeal sessions will begin August 10th and will continue until August 15th. He pointed out that these appeals are worthless, even if the appeals brought to the State’s Council Court legally qualified, this would not stop the implementation of the provisions in accordance with the provisions of Article 50 of the State Council.
 
He objected, that, the State Litigation Authority resorted to dodging the law claiming that they are expected to respect the law and the Constitution.
 
In an exclusive statement to Ikhwanweb, Judge Abdul Moneim Al Suhaimi, Chairman of Cairo’s Court of Appeals, ascertained that such steps are an infringement of the provisions of the Judiciary and emphasizes that the authorities’ decision to file these appeals represents a dramatic breach from the law aimed ultimately to prolong the proceedings where the plaintiff initially realizes that his appeal will be to no avail. 

It is worth noting, that the Administrative Court headed by Judge Mohamed Attia, Vice Chairman of State’s Council Court decided on July 12 to obligate the Ministry of Interior to set free thirteen of the Muslim Brotherhood’s high ranking leaders who had been sentenced in the recent military tribunal. The detainees have completed three quarters of their sentence.
