Police in Shebin el-Kom are still detaining 8 members of the Muslim Brotherhood in open defiance after two court orders for their release were passed. The latest was issued Thursday, September 17.

The appeals court in Shebin el-Kom had rejected the appeal filed by the Shebin prosecution ordering for their immediate release. However, they remain detained under the indictment of belonging to the banned Muslim Brotherhood group and for advocating their ideology. They are to remain detained pending further investigation.
