The Muslim Brotherhood's defense team has filed an urgent challenge against the Ministry of Defense, and the Borg el Arab Prison administrator on behalf of Dr Gamal Heshmat who is currently detained. Dr Heshmat has received recurrent release orders.

The lawyers hoped to meet with the administration in an attempt to receive permission for Dr Gamal Heshmat to discuss his Master's degree thesis which has been postponed for over 6 years. It is expected that he submit his papers and discuss his research on December 12, 2009 at Ein Shams University.

Permission is yet to be given by the Ministry for him to be transported from the Prison's premises to the University's hall where Dr Heshmat hopes to be granted his Masters degree on his study on parasites.

In a related issue members of the Arab Doctors union hoped to visit detainees from the movement including Dr Heshmat and Dr Tawakol Masoud however they were permitted only 10 minutes by the administration while members of the families of other detainees had to wait till the visit was over. Dr Essam Eleryan was among the   Doctors who visited the detainees.
