Egypt— Authorities in Gharbeya the hometown of the MB new Chairman Dr Mohamed Badie have arrested at least 9 members of the movement in a new crackdown on the group's members. The arrests took place after Badie had attended his uncle's funeral and had been met by a large number of the group's supporters who had come to offer their condolences. The latest animosity by the ruling regime appears to come as pressure on the group and its leaders to intimidate them on their stance in the upcoming elections. The MB have voiced their intentions confirming that they will participate in both the municipal and parliamentary elections which are to take place this year. The group have stressed that they will not be deterred. The detainees who were arrested following the funeral include: Ayman Farag Amr El-Shamy Hamdy Almadawy Mahmoud Fowzy Bilal El-Shamy Sayed Mansour Khaled El-Shamy Hussein Gouda Sayed Al-Messiry Sayed Ahmed Alghandour Magdy Alghandour Hussein Salem
