The Egyptian security forces in Damanhur, northwest of Cairo, arrested Mr. Sami Ayyad, whom the security services attempted to arrest a few weeks ago within the continuous crackdown against leaders and members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the biggest opposition group in the Egyptian parliament.

This took place when Mr. Sami went in person to the state security headquarters to inquire about the reason for the security services’ raid against his house while he was out. When he didn’t meet the state security employee, he left his personal data; shortly after that, he was arrested.

These developments take place amid snowballing crackdowns carried out by the Egyptian security services against leaders and members of the Muslim Brotherhood group, the latest of which was transferring many Muslim Brotherhood leaders to military tribunals after freezing their assets.
