GAZA, -- Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, described the conditions of Palestinian detainees in Egyptian jails as catastrophic and could no longer be tolerated.

Abu Zuhri told the PIC on Tuesday that the Egyptian security torture practices such as electric shocks and severe beatings were inhuman.

He said that the arrests were illogical and inhuman, warning that the lives of those detainees were in danger.

The spokesman also expressed dismay at the nature of questions to those detainees as they all revolved around resistance, movement of leaders, and others, which, he said, put a big question mark on the goals of such arrests.

Abu Zuhri called on Jihad leader Darwish Al-Gharaballi who was released from Egyptian prisons recently after two months of detention where he experienced various torture means at the hands of Egyptian state security agents.
