Sources from the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that opposition activist Fedaa Horani was released after serving a 30 month jail sentence.

Syrian authorities released earlier this week, the opposition activist who had urged for increased democracy along with four others. Twelve activists had initially signed a declaration known as the Damascus Declaration which called for democratic changes. The London based Muslim Brotherhood members and other Syrian secular opposition had signed the document in 2005 calling for 'radical democratic change' in Syria which resulted in the arrest and detention of some of its members.
