WEST BANK, -- U.S. military chief in the West Bank Keith Dayton has handed over the task of training Palestinian Authority security forces to his successor Gen. Michael Moeller, several sources confirmed on Monday.

The new U.S. chief of the West Bank Moeller last Friday took his new role as a U.S. security coordinator in the region. His primary task is to train PA security militia to maintain Israeli security and suppress Palestinian resistance factions in coordination with the Israeli army.

Israeli military sources said Dayton left the West Bank for the United States last Thursday after a five-year stay in the region.

The sources noted that Gen. Michael Moeller took office on Friday. He was a B52 pilot in the U.S. Air Force and was responsible for strategic planning at CENTCOM, the U.S. military's Central Command. He speaks Arabic and Spanish.
