For the second consecutive day, Tanta’s University witnessed demonstrations led by MB students protesting the university’s administration to ban opposition candidates, mainly the MB students, from participating in the student body elections.

The students demanded the elections scheduled for October 17, be monitored by an independent committee.

Meanwhile, MB and National Association for Change (NAC) students in Zagazig University also protested similar measures by university administration

A student from the Monofeya University reported that 86 MB students were also prevented from running in the elections, adding that the students targeted intended to file a lawsuit against the university. Spokesman for the university Refaat al-Badry, however, denied the accusation maintaining that the students were banned due to their political affiliations.
