Azhar University students engaged in an open-ended sit-in in front of the university's dormitory administration after they were denied entry into residence halls on the grounds that they were affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Students requested to meet the university president to explain the problems they faced due to their banned entry. The students indicated that they were unable to study because of their denied entrance highlighting that it inflicted financial burdens.

According to Ali Abdel Wahid, head of campus dormitories, students were prevented from entry because they were affiliated with the MB asserting that the administration had nothing to do with the move.

The students claimed that they would continue their sit-in until the crisis was settled and they were allowed entry since they had attained the necessary scores required to stay at the student hostels.
