OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, -- The Israeli police in occupied Jerusalem delivered a notification to Adnan Ghaith, an activist in defense of Silwan lands, ordering him not to approach occupied Jerusalem and its environs for four months.

The occupation police contacted Ghaith over the telephone on Sunday and handed him the order, to which he has 14 days to appeal.

Ghaith, for his part, said that he would combat the order with all available legal means, describing his banishment from Jerusalem as "oppressive".

Ghaith was repeatedly detained lately by the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) and held under house arrest for many times.

The popular committees in Silwan, south of the Aqsa Mosque, denounced the decision, charging that it violated the international law.

A Silwan inhabitant expressed concern that the decision might herald the start of large-scale demolition of Silwan property.
