Giza's Attorney General Receives Complaint against Torture of MB Member

A 35-year-old accountant and a leading Muslim Brotherhood figure in 6th of October, Mohammed Ali Darwish, submitted a complaint to Judge Mohammed Zekri, head of the North Giza prosecution office, demanding an investigation into torture by police in Oseem's State Security headquarters.

A 35-year-old accountant and a leading Muslim Brotherhood figure in 6th of October, Mohammed Ali Darwish, submitted a complaint to Judge Mohammed Zekri, head of the North Giza prosecution office, demanding an investigation into torture by police in Oseem's State Security headquarters.
 
In his complaint, he said that a security man, Abdul Aziz, stopped him while he was walking down the street on January 8, 2011 and asked him to provide proof of identity. Then, he took him to the office of State Security in Oseem, searched his house and seized some of his belongings.
 
Security forces took him again to the office of State Security, and there he was blindfolded, his hands tied behind his back and Police Officer, Maher Tawfiq, insulted him, stripped him naked and beat him until nearly every part of his body was bleeding.
 
The chief prosecutor referred the complainant to the forensic department while the victim's lawyer said he would lodge a formal complaint to the Attorney General and the National Council for Human Rights, demanding an immediate investigation into the case and will hold the perpetrators accountable.
