In unusual step, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) on its official Facebook page, is conducting a poll on the candidates bidding for Egypt’s presidential elections. In response to popular demand, SCAF has confirmed that the poll will continue till July 19.

The options of deleting or adding candidates’ names will be offered on its official Facebook page. SCAF listed the names of presidential candidates in alphabetical order, and later filtered the list to remove those who garnished the least number of votes. The most recent list included:  Ahmed Shafiq, Salah Abo Ismail, Hamdeen Sabahi, Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh, Amr Mousa ,Mohammed ElBaradei, Mohamed Salim Al-Awa.

So far, Mohamed ElBaradei has won majority of the votes with 41%, followed by conservative candidate Mohamed Salim El Awa, while surprisingly Amr Mousa came in a distant fifth.
