Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, Secretary-General of the Freedom and Justice Party, stated that the party's position remains the same with regard to completing presidential elections before June 30, 2012AD, at which point power shall be handed over to a civilian president elected by popular free will.

In a press statement, Dr. Katatni stressed that the FJP believes that procedures for drafting the new Constitution, through the election of the Constituent Assembly, after the completion of the People's Assembly and Shura Council elections, will not get in the way of starting presidential elections. He pointed out that the party is committed to the timetable agreed by political parties and stakeholders, and that any deviation from that will lead to more chaos, because it is the people who shall elect the next President.
