FJP Wins 45.2% In Shura Council Elections, Phase I
Judicial committees supervizing Shura elections have announced that the candidate lists of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) – the Democratic Alliance – have won the highest number of votes in the majority of the provinces, with the FJP receiving 1,323,770 votes out of a total number of 2,924,187 valid votes; about 45.2%, while the Menoufia and Qena governorates’ candidate lists have been postponed to February, 7 and 8.

Egyptian Shura Council Elections 2012

Judicial committees supervizing Shura elections have announced that the candidate lists of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) – the Democratic Alliance – have won the highest number of votes in the majority of the provinces, with the FJP receiving 1,323,770 votes out of a total number of 2,924,187 valid votes; about 45.2%, while the Menoufia and Qena governorates’ candidate lists have been postponed to February, 7 and 8.


Further, Dr. Hassan Yusuf, the FJP’s candidate for the ‘Professionals’ seat in Fayoum governorate, won the contested seat outright, while 26 of the party’s candidates are facing run-offs for 29 seats at this stage.
