Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Maksoud, the Muslim Brotherhood's lawyer, said that the Administrative Court ruling to block the formation of the Constituent Assembly is a dangerous precedent that opens the door wide to authorities to encroach upon the work of the legislature, and asserted that it was in breach of all established constitutional principles, and prevailing judicial norms.

In a press statement following the verdict, the Brotherhood’s lawyer said, "I believe that this decision, when challenged at the Department of Appeals of the Supreme Administrative Court, will be declared invalid.

"Right from the outset, the challenge against the formation of the Assembly should not have been accepted, because it is a parliamentary action, and not an administrative decision which the State Council is entitled to rule upon".

Moreover, Abdel-Maksoud said that appealing against the court ruling is the exclusive right of the People's Assembly and Shura Council, as they are the concerned parties in the case, since they are the parties responsible for the decision to form the Constituent Assembly to write the Constitution.
