Brotherhood Secretary-General: Question Marks Hang over Military Council
Affirming that Egypt’s Renaissance Project can be carried forth by Dr. Morsi, if Al-Shater’s appeal against disqualification is not accepted, Dr. Hussein admits suspicions regarding SCAF’s latest maneuvers.

Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Secretary-General of the Muslim Brotherhood, said that the decision of the Supreme Presidential Electoral Commission (SPEC) excluding Khairat Al-Shater is suspiciously political, because Al-Shater’s position is legally solid, having been studied by a group of legal experts from within the Brotherhood and others, who confirmed that he is 100% eligible.
In an interview with the “Ahl el-Balad” program on the Satellite TV channel “Misr 25”, Dr. Hussein said that there are question marks over the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), as all the Egyptian people are dissatisfied with the government, and SCAF still insists on keeping it in power.
Moreover, Hussein added that SCAF’s silence regarding accusations made against it claiming that it is endeavoring to replicate the former regime and has no intention to meet popular demands or achieve the objectives of the revolution made everyone suspicious, and this is not in the best interest of Egypt. |
