The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) has announced that it will boycott the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) meeting with political party leaders, to be held on Wednesday, due to the escalation of the brutally violent events in Abbassiya Square in Cairo, and the evident plot looming on the horizon to obstruct the handover of power according to the scheduled deadline of June 30.

The clashes broke out at dawn today in the vicinity of the Nour mosque in Abbassiya, Cairo, between protesters and a number of thugs amid heavy gunfire which led to the death of at least 9 protesters, while more than 60 demonstrators have been wounded.

The FJP announced a press conference at 1:30PM (11:30GMT) at the FJP headquarters in Cairo to clarify the party’s official position with regard to the violent events in Abbassiya Square.

Meanwhile, presidential campaign organizers for Dr. Mohamed Morsi, the FJP and Brotherhood candidate for the presidency, announced they will suspend all their campaign activities and events for two-day in respect and in mourning of sit-in martyrs of the Abbassiya.
