Ashri: Ruling to Suspend Presidential Elections Issued by Non-Competent Court
Controversial decision by administrative court raises many questions and causes concern for future of Egypt’s march from despotism to democracy, especially as court acts out of jurisdiction.

Mukhtar Ashri, Chairman of the Legal Committee of the Freedom and Justice Party, affirmed that the ruling of the Administrative Court to halt the presidential elections would not mean anything, since it is issued by non-competent court and in violation of the Constitutional Declaration.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, he warned against imposition of a scenario for the extension of the transitional period to delay the handover of power to civilians in defiance of the people and the revolution.

He expressed shock and dismay at attempts to involve the judiciary in matters well out of their jurisdiction to subvert the electoral process and influence the will of voters in the critical moments of history Egypt is going through today.
