Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, the People’s Assembly (PA) Speaker, rejected as totally false a report published in Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper’s website alleging that a grievance was submitted to President Mohamed Morsi on the decision to dissolve parliament.

Katatni asserted that no such action was taken in any way at all, pointing out that a number of members of Parliament started legal proceedings before the Administrative Court to challenge the executive decision of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF)’s head, issued to dissolve Parliament based on a Constitutional Court ruling invalidating some articles of the PA’s elections law.

The PA Speaker pointed that the Administrative Court set July 9 for the consideration of these cases. Hence, Katatni added, there is no reason for filing a complaint while complaints are under consideration by the Egyptian judiciary.

Katatni called on the media to investigate the accuracy and objectivity of the news they publish about him.
