Egypt’s first freely elected president, Mohamed Morsi, meets with U.S. deputy secretary of state, William Burns, to discuss hot Palestinian and Middle East peace issues.

Dr. Mohamed Morsi, President of Egypt, Sunday, is to meet with William Burns, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, at the presidential headquarters in Heliopolis – Cairo. The U.S. official is reported to be carrying a message from U.S. President Barack Obama.


Morsi is expected to discuss with Burns the Palestinian issue and Middle East peace, and the implications of the recent escalation on the Palestinian issue.


William Burns is the first U.S. official to meet with the Egyptian President of the Republic after winning the presidential election.
