National Front Statement on Decree Revoking Military Council Decision to Disband Parliament

Cairo – Monday, July 09: Translation of Egyptian National Front’s statement on the decree issued Sunday by Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi rescinding the military council’s earlier decision to disband the freely and democratically-elected parliament.

The Egyptian National Front (ENF) wishes to announce its full support for Presidential Decree No. 11 / 2012 to revoke the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF)’s earlier decision to dissolve the elected People’s Assembly.

The ENF holds that this decision is a step in the right direction, towards completing the revolution’s path and restoring to the Egyptian people sovereignty and the right to govern themselves, so all power would be in the hands of elected institutions.

Further, the ENF reiterates its refusal to recognize or commit to the supplementary constitutional declaration which it considers null and void.

The ENF emphasizes the importance of fully achieving the objectives of the revolution, including putting an end to SCAF’s political powers, the abolition of decision to set up the National Defense Council, and forming a government of national unity.

We affirm our willingness to sacrifice all so Egyptians would regain their full rights.
