Freedom and Justice Party: Some Still Desperate to Drag Judiciary into Political Conflict
After laying to waste about two billion Egyptian pounds (over $333mil) by insisting on the sacking of Egypt’s first postrevolution elected lower house of parliament, the country’s Constitutional Court now rules a third of the upper house invalid.

Dr. Murad Ali, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) media adviser, stressed that: "The Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC) decision issued Sunday – which announced the invalidity of one third of the Shura Council due to a fault in the Elections Law, and the invalidity of the committee that drafted the latest Constitution –does not change anything on the ground.

"The ruling recognizes the Shura Council as the country’s legislature, with its current setup and that it must continue its legislative role until the House of Representatives is elected, and that the Constitution, which was approved by two thirds of the people, is still the country’s national charter and frame of reference."

Dr. Ali asked: "Why, this time, did the SCC pronounce only one-third of the Upper House invalid, while earlier it ruled the entire People’s Assembly (Lower House) invalid, although the legal texts are the same?!"

"Indicators are still coming in thick and fast, affirming that certain individuals are as determined as ever to drag Egypt’s judiciary into political conflict."
