In a press statement, Amr Zaki, a leading member of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), reaffirmed that pro-Morsi demonstrators did not come out to Rabaa Al-Adaweya Square only to defend electoral legitimacy, but to establish the principles of democracy.

"We came to safeguard ballot-box legitimacy, defend the principles of democratic process, and affirm that the people's choice for president and MPs are red lines.

"Pro-Morsi demonstrators strongly support ballot-box choices and democratic legitimacy granted by the citizens to both chambers of Parliament and the President as well as the Constitution".
