The Arabic Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR) has called for the board of the Nobel Peace Prize to revoke the award given to Mohamed ElBaradei in 2005. The Nobel laureate played a leading role in the military coup in Egypt. The call has been based on the fact that a "bloody military coup" took place in Egypt against a "constitutional legal authority" and ElBaradei was a key player in the process. "The coup," said the organisation, "is a violation of power that bypasses the peaceful steps of transition of government, which is opposed by the international convention for civilian and political rights as well as the Global Human Rights Statement."
