The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy Alliance regards Tuesday's military court sentences for opponents of the military coup – life sentences for 11 people, and 5-year sentences for 45 others – as a huge setback for the gains of the January 25th Revolution.

The Alliance affirms that terrorizing citizens by trying civilians in military courts is a failed attempt by the July 3rd coup regime –a clear declaration of their utter failure in breaking the will of the Egyptian people and suppressing the huge daily protests in support of legitimacy and rejection of the coup.

The Egyptian people who sacrificed their lives during the January 25th Revolution in order to eliminate military courts and the suppression of freedoms, for the termination of the state of emergency, the termination of police brutality and violations, and the extermination of oppression and tyranny, will not permit the return to the suppression of its rights and freedoms once again.

The Alliance renews its commitment to all the gains of the January 25th Revolution, and reiterates its refusal of the return to terrorism by the military's police state.
