Egypt Pro-Democracy Coalition: 2012 Constitution for All Egyptians

Anti-Coup Alliance calls a new week of non-violent revolutionary activities, reminding that the 2012 Constitution (currently suspended by the putschists) is the legitimate national charter ratified by all Egyptians for all Egyptians.

The student movement has imposed its will, re-ignited the Revolution, and continued to conquer the waves of coup violence with creative ingenuity and resilience, as students and professors challenged the decisions of repression and injustice by escalating effective revolutionary action, and hence assured that it remains as always the Revolution’s true defender and powerhouse.

The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance deeply values and hails ​​the students’ peaceful struggle. It notes the ​​rising waves of discontent, disillusionment and anger in factories, government offices, streets, villages and liberty squares across the nation. It also warns of an eruption of anger in prison as a result of continued flagrant violations against anti-coup detainees.

The military coup leaders, who show clear signs of anxiety, fatigue and tension, are racing against time to produce a dark and illegitimate charter, thinking it would give them a veneer of fools’ legitimacy or temporary immunity. But that is not likely to happen. No sham referendum will give them the desperately needed false cover. The angry people will not allow any more time for Sidqi Subhi, Al-Sisi, Mohamed Ibrahim and collaborators to completely corrupt and destroy this dear homeland.

To all Egyptian revolutionaries, men and women...

Participation in the coup’s referendum constitutes a betrayal of the Revolution’s martyrs. Therefore, defend your legitimate (2012) Constitution, regenerate the Revolution in all liberty squares, and mass in a majestic million-man march Friday (December 20), as the beginning of a new revolutionary "2012, Our Constitution" week of peaceful protest activities. Let the January 25 Revolution inspire you.
