Today (Wednesday), the Egyptian judiciary has become more vividly a puppet controlled by a gang of soldiers as it wishes. General Sisi will continue to control the judiciary and trample its honor. It is beyond absurd that the death sentence is handed down in a case where the defendants have been proven innocent. Surveillance camera recordings have clearly shown none of the defendants were anywhere near the crime scene. Nevertheless, these innocent men were abducted, tortured, subjected to enforced disappearance and threatened with rape of their mothers and sisters; then dealt death sentences which are now unjustly approved.

In the midst of the severe economic crises, the phenomenal spread of crime – robbery, thuggery and bribery – in all parts of Egypt, especially the governorate of Dakahlia, the oppressive and highly-politicized judiciary managed to do its worst Wednesday by unjustly condemning to death 7 young Mansoura men, 3 of whom are physicians, 3 are engineers and the 7th is a student. A final judgment dooming them all to death represents a complete collapse of the justice system and human rights, and a deliberate waste of valuable human lives in Egypt.

Injustice has spread its tentacles so far and wide to thrash the flesh of the innocent. We promise the military coup junta that soon will come the day they hang by the neck on the gallows by order of law. "Prayers of the grieving mothers, fasting this Ramadan day, will never miss you."
