As a continuation of the arrest campaigns launched against the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egyptian state security forces have arrested 4 Muslim Brotherhood(MB) leaders in Faqous, Sharqiya governorate on Wednesday dawn ( Jan., 9th, 2007 ).

The security forces arrested Amgad Mahmoud Abdul-Aziz, a doctor who was a MB candidate in the 2005 Parliamentary elections, Gamal Hassan, an engineer, Dr. Abdul-Aal Saqr, a physician, and Mohamed Hussein, a teacher in the ministry of education.

It’s worthy mentioning that the security forces have failed in detaining Kamal Saleh, office manager of the MP “Farid Ismail” of the Muslim Brotherhood, as he was not home in time of the arrest campaign.

The security forces carry out this campaign as a part of the government"s crackdown against the Muslim Brotherhood to prevent it from fielding candidates for the coming Municipal elections.

The crackdown is more severe in Faqous in Sharqiya as the number of detainees have exceeded 80 MB members from that city alone in the last two monthes.
