Mansoura Criminal Court upheld the appeal lodged by three Muslim Brotherhood detainees against the 15-day provisional detention issued by the Higher State Security Prosecution.
 
Mansoura Criminal Court- third district- upheld the appeal lodged by the lawyer of the three Muslim Brotherhood detainees from Mansoura, against the 15-day provisional detention issued by the Higher State Security Prosecution in Cairo on March 13, 2007.
 
The acquitted are:

-Dr. Mohamed Abdul Rahman, a cardiac diseases consultant at Shirbin Public Hospital,

-Dr. Hamed Mansour, a specialist of Dermal Diseases at Mansoura Public Hospital

-Eng. Mohamed Zakariya, the head of the Auto Department in Al-Huda Wal-Nur Islamic schools.

The state security forces detained the three on Tuesday Jan., 7, 2007, the fourth day of the Adha feast as part of a crackdown that included several governorates, Gharbiya, Aharqiya and Dakahlia.
 
The defense said that the reasons for the provisional detention ended because the investigation into case came to a halt.
 
This acquittal wasn’t the first one; Mansoura Appeals Court acquitted them on Thursday Jan, 11, 2007; however, the prosecution challenged the court ruling and issued another arrest warrant; there detention was prolonged five 15-day times in front of the prosecution.
 
In a related context, Al-Materiya prosecution issued today a decision of jailing eng. Mohamed Farag, the Muslim Brotherhood candidate in 2005 elections, for 15 days pending trial.
 
For his part, Ahmed Yunus, the lawyer of the detainees said that this ruling is on the right path because there is no charge against the detainees.
 
Yunus added in a statement to Ikhwanweb that this rule confirms that the Egyptian justice is fair and doesn’t’ succumb to the state security orders.
 
Yunus hoped that the Interior Ministry will implement the ruling and release the detainees and not to issue other arrest  warrants against them like what happened several times with others.
