Egypt's ousted leader Hosni Mubarak was complicit in shootings of anti-regime protesters as he tried to face down a popular revolt, a member of an official commission said on Tuesday. Egypt's Public Prosecutor Abdel Meguid Mahmoud had ordered the detention of Mubarak and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, for 15 days pending investigations into charges of inciting attacks on demonstrators during the January protests. The Attorney General had formerly decided that Mubarak should be kept in custody and interrogated at the Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital as he is suffering from health conditions while Alaa and Gamal were flown in a military plane from Sharm el-Sheikh to Tora Prison in Cairo after being interrogated at a court in the city of Sinai. Mubarak and his sons are being investigated for alleged corruption, abuse of authority and inflating their wealth illegally. |
