Abu-Galala, Latest Victim of Medical Neglect in General Sisi's Prisons
On Monday, a detainee called Al-Arabi Abu-Galala died as a result of gross medical neglect in Gamsa Prison (Damietta, Egypt), after his health deteriorated. He suffered from cancer, liver tumor, renal failure, and Hepatitis C Virus infection, in addition to high blood pressure and diabetes.
Abu-Galala was transferred from Gamsa Prison to Belqas General Hospital on September 26, 2017, after he became very ill. Nevertheless, coup security forces shackled his hand to the hospital bed, as he suffered excruciating pain and his health deteriorated rapidly.
A few days ago, Abu-Galala's family said junta security forces, fully aware of his terminal health condition, adamantly refused to release him on health grounds. He passed away on Monday.
