The State Security Prosecution on Tuesday September 19, 2006, ordered another 15-day extension of detention to 26 Muslim Brotherhood members in what the Prosecution names as the Ras el Bar Camp Case.
The story started when the authorities stormed the homes of those MB members several months ago and detained them after confiscating personal properties such as computers and books. Among the detainees are the two MB leaderships Ahmed el Halawani (sentenced for five years before on charges of his belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood), and Mr. Mostafa Sleem. The two MB leaderships, along with 24 others, are in Tora Prison for more than three months.
Muslim Brotherhood’s lawyer Abdul Monem Abdul Maksoud called on the authorities to swiftly release the detainees who are imprisoned in political cases in line with their fellow Brothers who were released for the same reasons, affirming that there is no legal reason for their detention, and adding that the defendants are an example to the rest of the educators in the country.
